Chicago, IL – November 25, 2019 – Advanced Clinical, a clinical research services organization, today announced Clinical Research Executive Julie Ross has received the 2019 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Chair Award for her work on the advancement of women in healthcare and her impact on the HBA global organization, chapter operations, members and corporate partners. The HBA is a global nonprofit committed to achieving gender parity in the healthcare industry.
Since 2015, Ross has served as a Director-At-Large on the HBA global board and was just re-elected to serve another two-year term. Over the past several years, Ross has led key initiatives with HBA staff and board members to design progressive organizational change for gender equality in the healthcare industry.
Ross is passionate about the work she is doing at HBA with both women and men to drive change, including her efforts with the HBA Gender Parity Collaborative. Through this initiative, Ross works collectively with other industry senior executives to address the systemic and environmental changes needed to accelerate the pace of gender parity in the workplace.
Her leadership at HBA has helped women build broader networks to generate the skills and confidence they need to push for leadership roles. She also works to bring more men into these conversations in an effort to help them understand the value the female perspective brings to the leadership mindset and business outcomes, address obstacles females face in the workplace, and share actions others can take to create gender parity.
“The HBA Chair Award is one of the top awards bestowed by the HBA and goes only to those leaders whose service had the level of impact that makes their contribution stand out amongst an incredibly amazing community of high impact leaders,” said HBA CEO Laurie Cooke. “Julie was hands down the top candidate for this award due to her strategic thinking skills that progressed the HBA Board of Directors forward with a powerful strategic plan.”
Leo Sheridan, CEO of parent company Advanced Group and member of the HBA Gender Parity Collaborative, said, “Julie’s work has helped close the gap of gender inequality in the healthcare profession. I support and am thankful for all she has accomplished for this at both Advanced Clinical and the healthcare industry overall.”
“I am honored to have received this award and recognize that it takes a village to achieve gender parity in leadership positions. I am humbled by all of the leaders throughout this incredible organization who champion this endeavor day in and day out,” said Ross. “For years, research has proven that businesses with gender parity outperform their peer groups and therefore, as a drug development leader, I ask all of you to join us by taking real action towards gender parity such that each of our businesses can bring better treatments and cures to those who are counting on us.”
