OVERVIEW
We are currently searching for a skilled professional to join a well-known client’s team as a R&D Technician in Columbus, Ohio. The R&D Technician role will support the development and manufacturing of nutritional liquid and powder products in our Pilot Plant facilities. This role involves a combination of hands-on lab work, analytical testing, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food science and product innovation, along with a strong attention to detail. Their work will have a direct impact on the organization and the larger clinical industry, making this an amazing career opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform batch calculations, create manufacturing instructions, and ensure accurate preparation of nutritional liquid and powder products.
• Order and weigh ingredients, assemble batches for processing, and fill products into containers in a Pilot Plant setting.
• Prepare testing protocols and complete purchase orders for materials and testing services.
• Coordinate and compile test results for product evaluations, including unit conversions as needed.
• Conduct evaluations of powder oxidation, scoop delivery, and in-process testing of key metrics such as pH, viscosity, and total solids.
• Perform routine stability and quality control testing to ensure product quality.
• Organize experimental data into clear tables and summaries.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and complete manufacturing run summaries.
• Communicate findings to cross-functional teams and assist in product adjustments as needed.

EXPERIENCE
• Relevant coursework or job experience in food product development, lab testing, or manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience working in a collaborative, team-based environment.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science preferred, or in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Biology, Chemistry).
• Candidates with an Associate’s degree and relevant experience will also be considered.
• New graduates or soon-to-graduate candidates are encouraged to apply.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct and document scientific testing and experiments.
• Experience with laboratory equipment, testing protocols, and data analysis in a food science or related field.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality control, and batch production in a food production environment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate results clearly, both in written reports and oral presentations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to product development challenges.
